What does Uganda’s National Land Policy mean for pastoralists?

This 10-page policy brief “Uganda’s National Land Policy: what it means for pastoral areas” provides an overview of the National Land Policy (NLP) that was gazetted in August 2013 by the Ugandan Government, and its implications for pastoral areas. It highlights relevant policy statements and strategies that are critical for pastoral land and resource needs and summarises some of the policy’s weaknesses and challenges. It also suggests what civil-society organisations, local governments and Members of Parliament can do to ensure the NLP supports pastoral livelihoods.
