Report on CELEP activities in 2018

CELEP’s annual activity report for 2018 covers various lobbying and networking activities such as a learning visit on dairying in Kenya, a lunchtime conference on pastoral policy and research at the EU Info-Point during CELEP’s annual general meeting, a panel on pastoralism in Eastern Africa at the Tropentag in Ghent, a panel on pastoralist women at the European Development Days, CELEP representation by a young Ugandan partner in Africa S&D Week in Brussels, contributions to resolutions and reports of the European Parliament, co-authorship of the gap analysis on pastoralism and rangelands for the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) and the Coalition’s involvement in the Participatory Rangeland Management project. It describes preparatory activities for advocacy in 2019, such as in the movement for an International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists and championing pastoralists in the United Nations Decade of Family Farming (2019–28). Two new Eastern African partner organisations that joined the coalition are introduced.
