Mobility is critical for economic & social development

We, the Coalition of European Lobbies on Eastern African Pastoralism, believe that livestock mobility is critical for the economic prosperity and sustainable long-term development of Eastern Africa’s drylands. Therefore, we argue that policies and laws should be developed and implemented that enable and protect livestock mobility both within and between countries in the region. These (land) policies and laws should also clarify and secure land rights (both pastoral and non-pastoral) including the rights of pastoralists to negotiate temporary access to resources in non-pastoral land-use areas.
