In a blog “Severe drought continues to threaten livelihoods in the drylands of the Horn of Africa” (SPARC, 20 May 2022), Adrian Cullis reflects on how a third consecutive year of drought is affecting pastoralists in the Horn of Africa, particularly in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia. He explains the influence of the most recent La Niña episode, which is shifting global weather patterns and leads to drier conditions in the Horn.
