Irish Aid support to pastoralism in Tanzania 2007–16

This “Review of Irish Aid support to pastoralism in Tanzania” (2016, 86pp) in the period 2007–16 was based on reports and evaluations of the Pastoralist Basket Fund Programme (PBFP) and the subsequent Pastoralist Programme. Achievements included increased pastoralist CSO capacity, greater general awareness on pastoralism as a way of life, better service delivery for pastoralists in some districts, reclamation of some land and livestock routes for pastoralists, resolution of some conflicts and greater involvement of pastoralist women in decision-making and livestock ownership. However, longer-term impact may be compromised in some cases, e.g. land is not titled, livestock routes are not legally secure and the pastoralist CSOs supported do not appear to be sustainable.
