EU action to boost food and nutrition security

In 2010, the European Union (EU) took a significant step towards cooperating with partner countries to address food and nutrition security challenges by adopting an EU policy framework on addressing food security challenges. This forms the basis for a common framework for action for the EU and its Member States as endorsed by the Council. The European Commission Staff working document “Boosting food and nutrition security through EU action – implementing our commitments” (2013) delineates the objective, approach, guiding principles, and scope of the proposed implementation plan to operationalise the policy.
