The CELEP update for March 2017 reports on past, ongoing and planned activities of the CELEP Focal Point at VSF–Belgium and the Regional Focal Point at RECONCILE in Kenya. This issue brings information about CELEP’s advocacy for an International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP) in the year 2020 and involvement in the World Bank “Conference on Land and Poverty” in Washington DC, the LANDac conference in Utrecht, setting up an Eastern and Southern African Pastoralists Network (ESAPN) and the upcoming partner meeting of the FAO Pastoralist Knowledge Hub in Rome. It also draws attention to the updated CELEP position paper on the value of pastoralism, lobbying activities at the European Union in Brussels and new CELEP network members.
