On 17 September 2018 at 10h–12h at Ghent University (Ghent, Belgium), CELEP will organise a pre-Tropentag workshop on values of pastoralism. Pastoralism makes an important contribution to food production, food security and nutrition. However, its potential is constrained by numerous factors, the major ones being alienation of pastoral resources and the structural political marginalisation of pastoralists. During the workshop, the panellists will analyse how pastoralists are coping with these challenges and how pastoralism could fit into the overall vision of feeding the world by 2050. Panellists will include Dr Ann Waters-Bayer (Agrecol), Prof. Dr Brigitte Kaufman (DITSL), Michael Odhiambo (PLRD – Kenya) and Antonia Braus (VSF-Germany). You can find the flyer for the event here.
