The 2017 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Coalition of European Lobbies for Eastern African Pastoralism (CELEP) was organised by VSF-Belgium on 8–9 November 2017 at the Funkey Hotel in Brussels, Belgium. Participants came from pastoralist and support organisations in Belgium, Ethiopia, Germany, Ireland, Kenya, Netherlands, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. The agenda included self-presentations by the member organisations in Europe and the partner organisations in Eastern Africa, discussion of joint activities in 2016-17 and defining new ones for 2017-18, sharing with each other on pastoralism in Eastern Africa and becoming better informed about European institutions relevant for pastoralism in this region. On 7 November, the participants joined a roundtable in the European Parliament on pastoralism and dairy development, hosted by the Member of European Parliament Norbert Neuser. In addition, on 9 November, a lunchtime meeting on pastoralism and conflict management in Eastern Africa was held at the InfoPoint of the European Commision.
The report on the meeting contains many hyperlinks to the different presentations that were given in Brussels. It also includes the action plan for the coming year. Numerous photos of the AGM and events at the European Parliament and European Commission can be found here.
